Product Review: Beauty Cosmetics Blending Eye Brushes (Natural and Synthetic)

One of the key techniques in applying eyeshadows perfectly is blending. Of course, you'll be needing a blending eye brush for that or a fluffy brush. However, not all blending eye brushes out there perform the same. Some sucks, some are okay, while some are just the best. I've heard and read a lot of times that one of the bests, if not THE best, blending eye brush that you can find is the MAC #217 which I don't have because it's really expensive for me. I've found great, affordable blending brushes though which work perfectly on me but recently, I've found my two new favorite blending eye brushes --- the Beauty Cosmetics blending eye brushes.

In this post, I'm going to share with you both Beauty Cosmetics' Natural Blending Eye Brush and Synthetic Eye Brush. Let's talk about the natural one first.

I bought this blending eye brush from Beauty Cosmetics during the Celebrity Bazaar 2013. They were on sale that time so all of their individual blending eye brushes were only sold for P50.00 each! Such a steal!

The first thing that really caught my eye was the synthetic blending eye brush. I wasn't really planning to buy this one but Ms. Rosenn, the owner of Beauty Cosmetics, told us that this is made with high quality goat hair. I checked it out and I thought it's really soft so I decided to buy it since it's just for P50.00. Also, I want to compare it to the synthetic one.

First thing that I've noticed about this brush is that the bristles are a little porous or buhaghag so I thought maybe it's a little scratchy. When I tried it out, I was surprised because it's really gentle and soft and I didn't even feel itchy and the bristles didn't hurt my skin.

When it comes to performance, oh wow! It blends flawlessly but I think technique is still significant. How you use it is still a part of it but this brush is really good. I'd have to say that this is the best natural blending eye brush that I've used so far because I can blend my eyeshadows easily and quickly than before. Sure it's not the best blending eye brush like the higher-end ones, but for now, I can say that it's the most pro blending eye brush that I own.

Another good thing about this brush is that when I washed it, it didn't shed at all so durability is quite awesome, too.

Now, let's move on to the synthetic one.

Like the natural blending eye brush, this synthetic blending brush from Beauty Cosmetics is absolutely soft, too. Since it's synthetic, of course it is softer than the natural one. The bristles are packed but not super dense and it's okay by me! In fact, when it comes to blending brushes, I prefer dense bristles but not over densely packed because blending would just be easier. I also find that super densely packed brushes can leave streak marks and blending requires a little more effort.

The great thing about synthetic brushes is that you can use them for both powder and cream products. I usually use this synthetic blending eye brush for blending out cream eyeshadows or base. Sometimes (depends what type of eye makeup I'm doing), I use this to blend powder eyeshadows, too but what I do is, I use this for initial blending and then finish it up with the natural blending eye brush. You can also use this to blend out your concealer, like for spot-concealing or for your under eyes so it's multipurpose, too!

Overall, these two Beauty Cosmetics blending eye brushes are awesome. I love them and I highly recommend them to all makeup enthusiasts especially to those who are always in a budget because it's affordable yet performs greatly. Since it's cheap, you might find flaws in this brushes but so far, I've no problem with them. I think the original price of each brushes is P100.00.

Repurchase? ABSOLUTELY! I'm actually planning to buy a few more for backups. ;-)

Visit Beauty Cosmetics on Facebook to purchase your own blending eye brushes. Do check out their other makeup brushes as well because they're awesome, too! :)

QUICK Product Review: Moringa O2 Malunggay Herbal Moisturizing Lotion

Product Name: Moringa O2 Malunggay Herbal Moisturizing Lotion
Price: P129.75
Bought from: SM Department Store, Beauty Section / Watsons

The Moringa O2 Malunggay Herbal Moisturizing Lotion is the second product that I've tried from the brand. After trying out and falling in love with their Malunggay Herbal Facial Toner, I thought that this lotion might just be a good product, too. And like the toner, this lotion also has olive oil and sunflower oil.

Aside from the awesome benefits of malunggay or moringa, what really made me buy this is its quick absorption formula. I hate sticky and thick lotions because it just makes me sweat like crazy and I know that we all hate that greasy feeling!

The Benefits of Moringa O2 Malunggay Herbal Moisturizing Lotion:

- Deeply nourishes and moisturizes dry skin
- Smoothens and softens dry, scaly skin
- Stimulates cell regeneration and skin renewal
- Improves skin elasticity, suppleness
- Helps slow down signs of aging
- May help relieve itch
- Skin lightening
- UVA and UVB protection
- Quick absorption and non-greasy

It's true that this lotion is non-greasy and is easily absorbed by the skin. It dries up fast and is not too slippery nor creamy unlike other lotions. It is actually almost like water when rubbed against the skin but even though it has that thin consistency, it is really moisturizing. One thing though that I've noticed is that the moisture doesn't last for long. For example, if I used it in the morning, before the evening comes, I can already feel some parts of my body a little dry but it's still okay.

Oh, and did I mention that the scent is divine? I love its green tea scent that is almost the same as the famous Elizabeth Arden Green Tea Perfume! Talk about smelling sophisticated and classy! I really love the scent but I just wish that it would linger for long hours. Also, I'd like to point out that it's affordable but I think some may think it's a little pricey for its size because the bottle only contains 125ml of the product. But with all its benefits, I understand why it costs just a little more than the other commercial lotions.

Overall, I love the Moringa O2 Malunggay Herbal Moisturizing Lotion! It has good benefits for your skin, it has UVA/UVB protection, it's non-greasy and has quick absorption formula, it smells so good and it's affordable plus it's not that big or bulky so you can bring this with you anywhere you go.

Repurchase? Heck yeah!
Recommend? Sure! It's perfect for the hot weather here in the Philippines.

Try it, it's good!

Stay awesome and accomplish your mission! :)

Classic Black Smokey Eyes ( Bb. Pilipinas Inspired Collaboration with Sandee)

A few weeks ago, I was invited by Sandee of MakeupbySandeeTV in YouTube to have a makeup collaboration. I love Sandee's works because she does creative makeup looks as well and I also admire her passion and dedication in doing makeups and filming videos. We came up with the theme Bb. Pilipinas, which is a well-known beauty pageant here in the Philippines. We thought of this idea since when we decided for a theme, the Bb. Pilipinas 2013 just ended, wherein Ms. Ariella Arida took home the crown! Congratulations, kapatid! :)

After we decided for a theme, I observed and learned the makeup looks of beauty queens but even before looking for photos, the first thing that came to mind was classic black smokey eyes because the eye makeups of beauty queens are always fierce and intense! Still, I searched for different beauty queens' photos but I just kept on coming back to the classic black smokey eyes so that's what I decided to do in this collaboration.

Classic Black Smokey Eyes by The Project Awesome

1. Prime your eye lids so that the eye makeup will last longer.
(I used the ELF Eyelid Primer)

2. Take a taupe eyeshadow and with a crease brush, define the eye sockets or crease of your eyes.
(I used the taupe eyeshadow from the PROPS Original Matte Palette)

3.Apply a black gel eyeliner or black cream eyeshadow or eye pencil as a base for the eyeshadows on the lids up to the crease. Blend with a synthetic blending brush.
(I used the Fanny Serrano Gel Liner in Black)

4. Take your blackest powder eyeshadow and basically apply on top of the black base. Use a patting motion to avoid smudging the base and to avoid caking. Smoke out the edges with a blending eye brush.
(I used the NYX Single Eyeshadow in Black)

5. Next, apply a warm brown eyeshadow on the edge of the black eyeshadow to soften the look. Line your lower lash lines, too with the same eyeshadow.
(I used the warm brown eyeshadow from the PROPS Original Matte Palette)

6. Highlight the inner corners of the eyes with a satin light silver eyeshadow.
(I used the satin light silver eyeshadow from the PROPS Original Matte Palette)

7. Highlight the brow bones with a satin light yellow eyeshadow.
(I used the satin light yellow shade from the PROPS Original Matte Palette)

8. Line the water line of the eyes and tightline using a black eye pencil. Bring it down on the lower lash lines as well.
(I used the In2It Waterproof Gel Liner)

9. Apply the same black eyeshadow you used on top of the black eye liner and smudge it.

10. Put on falsies if desired then coat with tons of layers of mascara! :)
(I used a pair of falsies from Divisoria and applied Essence Get Big! Lash Volume Curl Mascara)

If you want to see how I actually did this look, please watch the video tutorial below:

Product Review: Peripera My Color Lips

One of the things that I like about Korean cosmetics is their packaging. Their products are always cute and very girly. I don't know though much about Korean brands other than Etude House and Tony Moly so when our Korean friend gave me this Peripera My Color Lips, I was so happy because it looks so new to me and also, the packaging of the lipstick is absolutely gorgeous!

Product Name: Peripera My Color Lips
Shade: No. 15 Apricot Orange
Price: Free (got it as a gift)

Lovely colors give a dewy shine like a flower petal upon the lips.

Trendy colors and flower petal extracts create a volumy shine and natural rosehip oil give vitality to the lips.

Do you see that unique tube of lipstick? It's so gorgeous, totally girly and classy! I love the floral design! It will surely catch most girls' attention.

Totally in love with the packaging! I was actually a little worried because I was thinking, what if I ran out of this lipstick, how am I supposed to get another tube easily? Until just this month when I visited SM Megamall that I and my sister discovered that Peripera is actually available in SM Megamall Department Store. I think you can also find it at SM Mall of Asia. My sister and I quickly checked out the Peripera counter and we found out that the lipstick is available in wide range of shades! I've also researched about it and I found out that it's available in 28 gorgeous colors!

Source: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lipstick-Peripera-My-Lip-Color-Lipsticker-Choose-Fashionable-28-colors-/140837892186

The shade that I have is No. 15 Apricot Orange which is a peach color with gold flexes so it gives your lips a beautiful sheen. Yes, it's true that it will give a dewy shine on your lips. Since it has a dewy shine finish, the lipstick will make your lips appear fuller.

Peripera My Color Lips glides on smoothly and it is very creamy that whenever I swatch it on the back of my hands, the natural heat of my skin melts it easily. Upon application, I noticed that like other creamy lipsticks, it may take a few seconds or even a minute to set on your lips so when you have dry lips, it may accentuate at first the dry skin on your lips. But once it sets on the lips, you'll feel that the lipstick is actually moisturizing.

Peripera claims that this lipstick is long-lasting but based on my experience, it lasted only about 2-3 hours on my lips --- maybe it's because of its creamy consistency.

The shade No. 15 Apricot Orange is great for everyday wear, especially in school or at work. :)

Overall, I like the Peripera My Color Lips! It glides on smoothly, it's moisturizing, available in 28 gorgeous colors and the packaging is just beautiful! I'd love to try out other shades especially the pinks, purples and the red one but I find it a bit pricey. I forgot the exact amount but I think it's P500-P600 something.

If you want to purchase Peripera cosmetics, visit SM Megamall (or SM MOA).

What's your favorite Korean lipstick? :)

Product Review: San San BB Cream

When I first saw the San San BB Cream in the nearest HBC Store from me, I quickly grabbed it and checked it out because it's the first ever BB cream from the said brand so I was kind of intrigued by it. I didn't buy it that day though because when I swatched it, the shade is darker than my skin color and I didn't really need it that time. Then people started to learn about the product and I began to receive requests for a review about the San San BB  Cream so I decided to try it out. Considering it's very affordable price, it's not really a big deal for me to try it out even though the shade doesn't match my skin color since I can use a lighter shade of powder to set it and I can just give it to my older sister because she loves wearing foundations darker than her skin so that she would look tan. :)

The San San BB Cream reminds me of the San San Soleil Matte Foundation because the packaging of the former is designed after the latter. They both come in a squeeze-tube with a pump but of course, they have different consistencies. The San San Soleil Matte Foundation is thicker and has a really matte finish while the San San BB Cream has thinner and creamier consistency and has a really dewy finish!

Product Name: San San Hortaleza, M.D. BB Cream
Price: P149.75
Bought from: HBC Store, Tandang Sora

The packaging is very convenient to use because it has a pump. However, the pump may not function properly at times and I don't even know why. The first time that I tried this, I had to pump it a few times before it can even dispense the BB cream but after that incident, I haven't had any problems so far with the packaging. It's also nice that it is contained in a squeezable tube because if ever the pump will not function properly, you can just remove the pump and squeeze the BB cream directly from the tube. It's what I do with my San San Soleil Matte Foundation. There's no problem with the pump though but since the bottle contains little amount of the foundation already, the pump can't suck anymore the product so I just dispense the product directly from the tube. :)

BENEFITS
The San San BB Cream contains squalene, hyaluronic acid which supports your facial structure and tissue to bring back skin's elasticity, Vitamins A, C, E, and it also has SPF 43. It claims to lighten dark spots, nourish your skin, protect your skin from sun damage and it also has antioxidants. So, this BB cream is really promising because of its benefits.

SHADE, TEXTURE AND COVERAGE
What I love about the BB cream is that the texture is light but creamy so it glides on smoothly. It gives a very flawless and smooth coverage and yes, it can really lighten dark spots on my face. It can even conceal my dark under eye circles and the redness around my nose. However, it has a very dewy finish! Some people might like that but for someone like me who has oily-combination skin, it's a disadvantage. Of course it will help if you set it with powder to keep it matte but unfortunately, even after setting it with powder, my skin got shiny and oily after about 3 hours of wearing the BB cream on my face.

Another thing that bothers me a lot is that it only comes in one shade which is darker than my skin color! Bummer! However, it's still okay because I'd prefer a foundation or BB cream that is a little darker than my skin color rather than a foundation that is lighter than my skin color. I thought that since it's dark, I can just set it with a lighter shade of powder so that it will match my natural skin color. However, after a few hours it's like it will wear off my powder and the real color of the BB cream will show up again. So other than having an oily and shiny skin, I also get a tanned-looking face after a few hours of wearing the BB cream. Look at the photo below. See how shiny my face is and I got a little darker compared to the first photo.

Let me show you the first time that I road tested this product. It was very hot and humid that day.

Picture No. 1: BARE FACE

Picture No. 2: Applied San San BB Cream and set it with a lighter shade of powder to match my skin color. The dark spots on my face were concealed as well as my dark eye circles and the redness around my nose and on my cheeks. It has a smooth and flawless coverage!

Picture No. 3:With full makeup on.

Picture No. 4: After 3 hours. As you can see, my face became really oily and shiny especially on my t-zone area and I looked a little darker, too.

I am really frustrated about this product because I'm in love with its coverage but it really makes my skin super shiny and oily after a few hours. Also, it is darker than my skin color! If this has a matte finish or even semi-matte finish, I think it would be one of my favorites regardless if it's darker than me or not! I can deal with it. But sadly, it really has a dewy finish. :-(

I just want to point out that even though it makes my skin oily, the coverage is still nice! It still looks smooth and flawless even if I look shiny. When you blot it with an oil blotting paper, it will look fresh and matte again. But honestly, I'm not someone who keeps on retouching all day. It's like, when I wear makeup and then once I go out, I forget about checking my face if I look super oily or what. So, yeah, the dewiness of this BB cream is a big problem for me.

Here's the video review of the San San BB Cream that  have uploaded just yesterday. Watch it to see how I apply the BB cream on my face and how it actually looks like when freshly applied.

Here's a before and after shot from my review and demo video of the San San BB Cream:

See? Same effect. My skin looked really shiny after a total of 5 hours. :-(

The coverage though is still flawless and nice but you can see that my active pimple is already peeking through.

You know what, even though it has a dewy finish, I still like it! It's not something that I would throw out just because it makes me look super oily. I like it because of its smooth and flawless coverage, it's very impressive! It does cover up imperfections on the face well. Two thumbs up for that! Also, I did not get any breakouts or rashes from using it. I just wish that it will be available in other shades and I hope that San San can come up with a new BB cream formula suited for people with oily skin like me.

Repurchase? No. But if ever it will be available in a shade that will match my skin color, yeah probably I will.

I can't recommend this to everyone since as you have seen, it made my face oily in just a few hours and also because it's only available in one shade. If you are morena and have normal or dry skin, I think this will work okay on you. :)

Stay awesome and accomplish your mission! :)

Bella Pelle Underarm Whitening Kit + GIVEAWAY!!! (CLOSED)

One of the most common skin problems of most girls is probably dark underarms. You can find so many skin whitening and underarm whitening products out there and in different formulas, too to combat this problem! There are creams, deodorants, powders, gels, etc. Some are effective but I think, most of them are not.

Bella Pelle Professional Skin Care Formula carries an underarm whitening kit which might be the solution to your dark underarm problem! Bella Pelle means Beautiful Skin in Italian, by the way. :)

The secret to a smoother, whiter and flawless underarms is now revealed!

Bella Pelle Underarm Whitening Kit
BFAD Approved | Organic | Dermatologically Tested | Made in The Philippines

"Why spend a fortune on dermatological clinics for underarm skin peeling and whitening treatments when you can do it comfortably at your very own home?"

Price: P1120.00

Mission:
Resolve every woman's dark underarms and chicken skin problems.

How it works:

Peeling and bleaching is the best method for whitening the underarm area because it is a comprehensive solution that not only treats the symptom of dark underarms but also addresses the cause.  The whitening and peeling kits are very reasonably priced (even as low as $25 – 1000php) and they're easy to use at home in a private setting where you don't have to worry about doctors and technicians.  Even if a doctor isn't performing the treatment, you should seriously consider consulting a doctor or dermatologist before trying any home whitening treatments.

Peeling and bleaching works by removing the discolored outer layer of skin underneath the arms with a chemical peel before bleaching the armpits.  This exposes the underlayer of skin that hasn't been exposed to the same conditions that darkened the skin in the first place (harsh deodorant ingredients that react with body oils and sweat).  This layer of skin is much lighter and only requires a minimum amount of whitening to even out the tone and make it look natural.

The Bella Pelle Underarm Whitening Kit contains the following:

1. Green Peeling Oil  - This is the chemical that will slowly remove and slough off the outer layer of the dermis.

2. Bleaching Cream  - This is the main skin lightener that will even out the skin tone under the armpit. By removing the first layer, less bleaching is needed and less of this gets used.

3.Aluminum Chloride-based Antiperspirant - Because most of the discoloring of the underarms occurs when commercial deodorants react with oil and sweat, the kit supplies a replacement antiperspirant that is odorless and is so powerful that it's prescribed for people with hyperhydrosis (excessive sweating). The antiperspirant contains Melawhite which is a whitening agent that will continue to even out the skin after the initial bleaching.

4. Hyrocortisone Cream - This is a topical steroid that is used to help reduce inflammation and irritation during and after the peeling process.

5. Whitening Soap of your choice - Any whitening soap you prefer that can also be used on the body.

6. Instructions/Manual

Directions for using the underarm whitening kit:

1. Using your fingers, apply the green peeling oil to your underarms three times a day allowing it to dry completely. This should take 5-10 minutes and you won't need to rinse it off. I would recommend spacing it out over the day; however, you can apply it at night so long as you wait 15-20 minutes between each application. This will be done for three straight days.

2. Apply hydrocortisone cream as needed to irritated areas. Your armpits will begin to burn after a day or two, and the hydrocortisone cream will help to ease the inflammation.

3. After the three days, stop applying the peeling oil and wait for the skin to start peeling off. It may take an additional two to three days before you see any peeling. If you don't get any peeling to occur, wait two weeks before re-starting the treatment.

4. Wait for the peeling to complete before bleaching. This may take anywhere from 3 to 7 days to complete.

5. Once skin has stopped peeling, use the Aluminum Chloride antiperspirant as you would any deodorant and apply the bleaching cream only at night. Keep the bleaching cream in the refrigerator when not using.

6. During the peeling and whitening process, do not use any deodorant and avoid washing it with soap. This will be particularly sensitive to any chemicals and you do not want to have a reaction. Also, try to avoid shaving or waxing the area if possible. Shaving can be performed if you're extremely careful.

That's all it takes! Just 7-10 days and your underarms will be lighter and more natural looking, perfect for the summer (and any weddings you happen to be attending). If you want to whiten your underarms again, make sure to wait three months or more before undergoing the peeling process. This will give your body time to recover .
