ROSE et NOIR (Pink and Black)

I love the colors pink and black, I think they look awesome when combined. So, I decided to do this makeup look just for fun. I actually have a peg for this look. Let me show you:

I didn't exactly copy the look if you noticed. The original look was a bit more intense and I want a lighter and softer version of this makeup look. Anyway, I just fell in love with this makeup look so, I decided to make my own version.

Orchid and Dazzle (Ellana Minerals) A Remake of Xteeener's Weekend Warrior Purple Eyes

I've been wanting to do this makeup look ever since I've watched Xteeener's makeup tutorial about this one. This is a remake of her Weekend Warrior Purple Eyes. I really love the colors! She used loose pigments for the eyes so I wanted to use loose pigments as well to really copy the look as close as possible. So, I bought a couple of loose pigments from Ellana Minerals. I bought orchid which is a hot purple color and dazzle which is an olive gold brown color, hahaha!

theprojectawesome basics: FOUNDATION 101

Finding the best foundation is not as easy as you might think it would be. You have to consider some things in order for you to know the foundation that will really suit you.

Here are some tips and tricks to help you choose the perfect foundation:

(You can watch the video HERE)

PRODUCTS USED IN THE VIDEO

FACE
San San Matte Foundation
ELF Two Way Powder
ELF Tone Correcting Concealer
Fanny Serrano Two Way Powder in Rajah

EYE AND BROWS
Ever Bilena Precision Blender
In2It Waterproof Brow Powder
Dollface Cosmetics Vanity Palette
In2It Waterproof Gel Liner
Maybelline theMagnum Mascara

LIPS
NYX Slim Lip Pencil in Edge Pink
NYX Matte Lipstick in Shocking Pink

1. Determine your skin type.

*OILY - Oil-free foundation and non-comedogenic products are best for people with oily skins. Look for a foundation that controls oil and shine. Settle for a water-based foundation.

*DRY - If you have dry skin, avoid using matte and powder foundation because your skin may appear flaky and you don't want that. Settle for a foundation that is moisturizing and hydrating.

*COMBINATION - There are many choices for people who have combination skin. Choose a foundation that has moisturizer in it but at the same time controls oil and shine. If you're going to use matte foundation or powder foundation, be sure you have moisturized your skin very well.

*SENSITIVE - You should be careful in choosing a foundation if you have a sensitive skin. ALWAYS check the ingredients of the product you're going to buy. Check if it's tested for allergies and skin irritancy. Avoid oil-free and fragrance-free foundations. Settle for ones that are water-based and non-comedogenic to avoid blocking of pores. Mineral cosmetics are best for people with sensitive skins.

2. Learn about the different formulas of foundations.

*Liquid foundation - I think this is the most common foundation and most used. Just always keep in mind your skin type if you're going to use a liquid foundation. If you have oily skin, go for the oil-free ones and if you have dry skin, look for the moisturizing ones.

*Cream Foundation - This formula is best for people with dry skin. This is also perfect if you want a full coverage because it gives heavier coverage than other formulas.

*Powder Foundation / Cream-to-Powder Foundation - This type of foundation is best for people with normal to combination skin.

*Stick Foundation - It's kinda the same with the cream foundation but it's more convenient and easier to use and apply.

*Tinted Moisturizers - This obviously not a foundation. It's just a moisturizer but since it's tinted, it's a great alternative if you want to have a light coverage and if you want to look more natural.

3. Determine your skin tone.

It's important to know your skin tone first before purchasing a foundation because you don't want to buy a wrong shade of foundation. Determine if you have warm, cool, or mixed skin tone. I've read this on Project Vanity's blog and other random websites that in order for you to determine your skin tone, look at the veins in your wrist. If the veins are green, then you warm skin tone. If it's blue, then you have cool skin tone. If you have both blue and green then you're kinda in between.

4. Test if the foundation matches your skin tone before purchasing.

A lot of people test the foundation on the back of their hands when they buy foundations. It's actually not ideal because your hands and your face have different skin color. It's better to test the foundation on your neck or on your chin because it's the closest one to your face. Try rubbing a little foundation on your neck and check it on a natural light. If the foundation disappears then it's the perfect shade for you.

That's about it! I hope this somehow helped you in determining the best foundation for you. Thank you! :)

I've always loved Jojo and her music ever since her Baby It's You back in high school. She's got one of the greatest voices in the music industry. That's why I was glad when her comeback song and music video Disaster was released. She's more mature now and she's supah HOT! I love her so much that's why I decided to copy one of her looks in the music video even though the look is pretty simple. :)

I've posted the video five days ago and it's only today that I find the time to blog about it and post complete products I used in this makeup look.

HAUL Yeah Baby! XII (168 Mall Adventure)

I said in my last haul blog post that I hope I can control myself from buying stuff even just until this month ends because I'm trying to save up some money and now here I am with another haul! Just so you know, this is totally okay and fine by me, with all of my heart (hahaha) because most of the stuff I'm going to show you were bought with my Mother's money! I am a one happy daughter! :-D

Yesterday, I spent the whole day with my Mother, my older sister and my boyfriend. We ate lunch at Chef Vince and then we went shopping at 168 Mall. 168 Mall is a local mall here in the Philippines and it is one of the go-to places if you want to buy cheap and affordable stuff such as clothes, bags, shoes, and pretty much everything! We went there basically to buy my sister a new pair of shoes because 2nd semester had already started. By the way, I think my sister changes shoes every freakin' semester! LOL!

I actually bought only a few stuff but the highlight of this haul is my very first train case which I only got for PHP500! Yes, you've read it correctly, PHP500. But you'll know why it's super cheap if you keep on reading so please do. ;-p

1. EARRINGS!

I bought these super cheap but edgy and sophisticated earrings. I was supposed to get only the feather earrings but the sales lady said it's two for PHP150 so I picked another pair and I chose that sophisticated brown drop earrings! May dagdag na naman sa collection ko!

2. MAYBELLINE NEW YORK COSMETICS (Blushers and Mascara)

I was checking out this toy store to find a gift for my niece because it was her birthday yesterday. Unfortunately, I didn't buy anything because the toys there are all original (so that means expensive) and I don't have enough money to buy what I really wanted for my niece. When I stepped outside the store, a certain rack of random items caught my attention. Then I saw on the second layer some Maybelline New York goodies! I immediately asked the store owner if those are authentic and she said yes and she even said that those Maybelline cosmetics were shipped to them weekly. I called my sister and we checked it and it's obviously authentic. However, they are only selling blushers and mascaras. I didn't even think twice, I started choosing which shade of blushers I'm going to buy. And oh, the mascara that they have? theColossal Volum' Express! It was only priced at PHP250. I've been dying to have theColossal mascara even though I know it's just the same with theMagnum mascara which I already have. LOL!

I bought theColossal, one blusher (Romantic Plum) and one light bronzer (Salsa Sun). My sister also bought a couple of MNY stuff. I got the blush and bronzer for only PHP200 each.

3. EARRING HOLDER

I love earrings. I've been collecting earrings for more than a year now. Before I started collecting makeup for my makeup business, I was collecting earrings and I actually became obsessed with it. It's my guilty pleasure next to makeups! ;-) I have so many earrings right now and I've been looking for an earring holder to, well, to hold them! Hahaha! I found this earring holder at 168 mall and got it for only PHP75. The earring you're seeing below are just 1/4 of my collection. ;-p

4. SILVER MEDIUM SIZED 4-LAYERED TRAIN CASE

Well, this train case have three extra layers, the fourth layer is the bottom part. Like what I've said above, I only got this for PHP500. It was originally priced at PHP600 but my Mom is so good at haggling prices. Hahaha! I bought this train case for temporary use only. For PHP600? Come on! It's very, very cheap. The quality is not that good but it's good enough to carry the things I need to bring in a makeup gig, at least for now. My Dad promised to buy me a better one soon. Every time I open the layers of this train case, I'm really, really scared that I might break it off so soon because the layers are not that durable. But so far, it's okay naman!

The reason why it's cheap? Just refer to the photo below. Natatanggal na 'yung dikit nung edges sa loob.

Another thing that I hate about this? It comes with a key but it doesn't even work at all! The key doesn't fit to the key hole! Naglolokohan ba tayo, p're?

But, overall it's still awesome. I've got exactly what I've paid for, so what do you expect pa? 'Di ba?

And that's it!

11.12.11: Makeup for Arlene and Drew and TGIF!

This Saturday was an awesome day! I had a hair and makeup gig so yay for that! :) Around 2 in the afternoon, I did Ate Arlene and Drew's makeup for their company party at Timog. The theme of their party was mobster/gangsta. So, I did smokey eyes for their eyes and nude and red shades for their lips. I also did their hair and they both wanted curls so that's what I did! ;-)

Here are their photos:

Ate Arlene

Drew

After doing their makeups, Lincon fetch me and then we went to T.G.I.Friday's Trinoma to have our dinner. Man, it's been like 7 or  8 years since I last ate at T.G.I.Friday's so it's so nice to experience their food again. My favorite food from their menu? CAESAR SALAD! It's still the best caesar salad for me, EVER!

I've always loved and admired their cool/retro/vintage style!

Look at that disco ball!

My Yum while waiting for the foods!

Here's what we had for dinner:

CAESAR SALAD!!!

Our Teriyaki burgers which we didn't finish so we just took it home!

Yum's Pacific Grilled Pork

After leaving T.G.I.Friday's, we watched the fireworks display at Trinoma. Ooh, by the way, we saw Piolo Pascual, he was having like a mini concert there so he was the one who introduced the fireworks display.

The photos suck, I'm sorry!

The fireworks are soooo magical and sooooo awesome! It lasted for about 15 minutes so my nape kinda hurt after watching it. Hahaha! Then, after watching the magical fireworks, I saw Gelatissimo Cafe. I didn't know it's already in Trinoma! I haven't tried it yet so we went there and I bought me some! Sorry, no picture! :(

That's it! I really had a wonderful day! Now, I'm back here in Tagaytay!

Hope you enjoyed reading!
